Most parents spend months preparing for labor, the nursery, and their baby’s needs — but almost no one prepares for what happens to their own body after birth.
In my clinical work, I see this over and over: new moms feel blindsided by bleeding, swelling, pressure, stitches, incision pain, hormonal crashes, sleep disruption, feeding strain, and the physical demands of caring for a newborn.
You are handed a baby… and almost no roadmap for your healing.
Your body undergoes massive, rapid changes in the first days postpartum — shifts in hormones, bleeding, abdominal support, pelvic floor function, posture, and emotional stability. Yet most women are told only to “rest,” leaving them unsure of what’s normal, what needs attention, and what they can safely do to support their recovery.
This handbook was created to change that.

Introducing You, Beyond Birth: The Essential 4th Trimester Handbook
A simple, supportive, clinically informed guide to navigating the earliest postpartum period — beginning on Day 1, and carrying you through the early weeks with clarity, confidence, and care.
It’s not a workout plan.
It’s not a medical treatment.
It’s not overwhelming.
It’s a foundation — exactly what your body needs most right now.

Inside the handbook, you’ll learn:

Clear guidance on bleeding, swelling, bladder changes, bowel changes, hemorrhoids, incision care, breast changes, and when to call your provider.

A realistic, supportive list of items that make the first days and weeks more comfortable — pads, peri bottle, stool softeners, pillows, feeding setup, and more.

Simple ways to lie, rest, feed, and move that protect healing tissues and minimize discomfort.

Breathwork, alignment, and small movements that begin restoring your foundation — appropriate immediately postpartum.

Pelvic tilts, supported postures, mobility suggestions, and ways to move that lessen lower-back pain, pressure, and stiffness.

What to expect from your incision, how to protect it, how to move safely, and early mobility guidance.

Practical strategies for getting out of bed, lifting your baby, picking up car seats, and protecting your back and core.

What pelvic PT helps with, signs you’d benefit from it, and how to know when it’s time.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jessica Babich, and I’m so happy you’re here.
I began my physical therapy journey in orthopedics and sports medicine, treating everyone from chronic pain patients to elite athletes and Broadway performers. I never expected to enter the pelvic health world, but my curiosity led me there. I noticed a pattern: for many patients, the missing link to resolving stubborn back pain or movement issues was the pelvic floor.
Once I saw the difference it made, I was hooked. I pursued specialty training and extensive continuing education so I could better identify the root cause of pain and dysfunction. Over time, I developed a unique skill set that’s made me the practitioner people turn to when conventional physical therapy fails.
I opened my own practice because I wanted to break free from the restrictions of the current medical system and offer care that’s truly patient-centered, where you feel safe, heard, and understood. Your story matters. You’re not defined by your diagnosis, pain, or society’s expectations.
I believe your body has the power to heal itself, my role is to guide you, give you the tools, and walk alongside you in that journey. Relief is possible. Recovery is possible. And I would be honored to help you feel better than ever.
Currently pregnant or immediately/ early postpartum females.
No — these strategies benefit both C-section and vaginal birth recoveries.
This handbook gives you safe starting steps, but I always recommend working with a pelvic floor specialist. While these strategies are evidence-based and meant to guide you safely, they are not a substitute for individualized care.
